                                  We have the keys!!!!!
Handover happened Thursday afternoon and we are very happy with our new home.
Most of the problems identified at  PCI have been rectified with the exception of the roof, which I fear I shall have to either live with or deal with myself.
Got to work straight away changing baton light fittings to LED Downlights which are looking great!!
We do not intend moving in until we have had the driveway done, carpets laid and Bamboo flooring finished throughout the living areas which we are doing ourselves and have made a big dent in already.

Almost Handover time and we are feeling a bit  happier with the way things are going . Had PCI last Tuesday and were pleased to see that the end panels on the Kitchen island bench had been replaced, Minor internal issues to be dealt with, mostly the norm with door adjustments, small plaster repairs, some paint touch-ups and a bit of silicone here and there.

After we went through & folder with the user guides for the air conditioner, Alarm & other appliances, our SS asked us sign off on the repairs to be dealt with. I pointed out that we had not had a look at the outside of the house and he said ''if you like'' - So we liked, Both knowing there were ongoing roof finish issues ( still unresolved ), Spark arrestors - a bushfire requirement that were missing- and a major issue with the finish of the mortar on numerous areas of the house.

Our SS  had an answer for every issue we raised, which consisted of ''I dont know what you mean''-''that's quite normal'' or the one I really liked is when he said I was being pedantic about the Mortar finish down the side of the house, in particular  on the window sill in photo no. 3.
Two days out from handover and things seem to be going much better. Spark arrestors have been re-installed and  there has been a lot of mortar  repairs as seen in photo no. 4, however we will see how it looks after it has been cleaned, which could of been the source of the initial problem
.
I again brought up our concerns about the roof finish which were first brought to his attention 3 months earlier and his predictable response was  '' where do you mean'' and '' it's normal'' until I produced photographs of 5 random  exhibition homes which have a finish I and any customer of  Mcdonald Jones would expect. He seemed surprised and asked if he could take the photos.
It is sadly getting to the point that  I do not believe there will be a suitable outcome  and fear that after handover I will have to have somebody modify / repair the roof to a level which I and most people would expect as I dont feel I can live with it the way it is. I hope this is not the case and I thought maybe I am being too fussy but then I realized that it really is CRAP !!

I know that every new home build is like a  roller-coaster ride and you bought your ticket. When you get to the end you will have a smile on your face but you have probably thrown up along the way.

Still some finish issues which I feel I am better off dealing with myself after handover

Im starting to get used to it like a wort on my forehead
